One of the books I'm looking forward to being released in 2009 is Catherine Asaro's "Diamond Star". It's the next book in her Skolian Empire series (about an interstellar Empire who's ruling body are telepaths and who's enemy are 'anti-telepaths' who enslave anyone with psychic abilities).
I highly recommend the series to anyone interested in 'soft' science fiction - although the author has a MA in physics from Harvard. Here's a web address that describes the book:

Janine, I've been looking for a SF series that is not hard core to read. So will keep Catherine Asaro in mind. I've read some of her Luna titles but no SF.
I'm waiting on the next installment in JR Ward's 'The Black Dagger Brotherhood' and in Keri Arthur's 'Riley Jensen Guardian series'.
