It's been a bit quiet on the Bootcamper blog this month as a fair number of us are participating in the June Book in a Month Challenge. The idea started with National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWrMo as its known, held in November every year.
We are writers who undertook the Romance Writers of Australia's inaugural "Romance 101 Bootcamp" in 2007. Here are our thoughts and musings over the journey to publication and beyond.....
Here at Bootcamp, we are a third of the way through our October Book in a Month Challenge and the word counts are starting to add up.
If you’re interested in trying to write a book in a month, November is National Novel Writing Month and you can register on the NaNoWrMo website http://www.nanowrimo.org/.
The Romance Writers of Australia also have a group dedicated to writing 50K in 30 days http://writeinjune.blogspot.com/. They participate in NaNoWrMo and also run a June challenge, taking advantage of cosying up next to the heater in the Australian winter.
Wow! What a month! April was BIAM (Book in a Month) month for Bootcamp 101. All up we had 11 Bootcampers and one honourary camper (go Cassandra Pennington!!!) participate. Together we wrote over 112,000 words!!! We had some star achievers, too! Nikki Logan took out the BIAM First Place Pro Award with Melissa James taking second place. In the Semi Pro category newcomer Fiona Gregory took first place and Alison Leake second! An honourable mention was handed out to Anne Newton, who wrote during amazing hardships and inspired us all! (Go Anne-you rock!!!)
First place finishers took home Darrel Lea red heart awards. Chocolate goodness to nourish the writer’s soul!!!
Even those who did not achieve placing are counted as winners, having written more than blank pages and received Bootcamp BIAM bookmarks!!!
